Changes - can we stop them?

Obraz
Regarding my last text I would like to comment last news I’ve heard on BBC canal. It literally broke my heart but actually it is happening in the world. The topic is: the fertility control in China. Why did it wake in me bad feelings? Let me explain. Almost everybody has heard about this issue in television or from friends, family. At first sight it is good to prevent the overpopulation due to increasing environment damage cause by human. However, it turns out that it has actually a grave effect in society’s customs. It is said that Chinese people don’t want to have more than one child or prefer to stay childless. It has some benefits but personally I don’t imagine living alone in old age. Of course there are people who feel dreadful about all the responsibilities that raising new generation concerns. Nevertheless, having fulfilling relationships and good memories with our relatives is the only thing we can’t buy or get from nowhere. It arrives from love, a feeling we have ingrai...

Relationships nowadays - what should we do?

Obraz
Lately I have participated in some retreat at my school and I consider important reading the Bible again (very often I don’t feel like prepared for this – my head is full of issues.) I want to talk about changing relationships. Time changes, people as well. As we can see, right now   people aren’t like those from XX century because they tend to focus on possessions. They like numbers and they want to compete with each other , at the same time this generation has problem with having a simple conversation, it is difficult to learn how to treat each other. They think only about themselves, they’re selfish.   For example, nowadays, people don’t know what marriage is (this union looses its value) and how to live with other person. However, we can read what the Bible says about it.   “[Live together] with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:2-3) We can analy...

Perfection

Obraz
I must admit one important thing at the beginning. Sometimes I am acting like a perfectionist what leads me wrong way. I mean that I spent so much time on thinking and reading that finally I can not manage with my plan. This time I want to create a serie of posts related to linguistics science. In spite the fact that I am keen on linguistic’s topics, I must focus on literature as well ( I chose a seminar leading to a master’s degree in the area of literary studies). That’s why I have to read a lot books and I have limitated time for looking for answers to my doubts. Four years ago, while I was participating in a conference, I wrote down numeruos questions that had came to my mind. Lately I thought that it would be absorbing if I sought some information in that area. Even more so because English is the languague in which we can get the highest numer of information. Besides I would love to share with you some stuff about psychology as well, the science which I consider very useful in var...

My thoughts about being a multilingual person

Obraz
As the semester is ending, I consider it appropriate to talk a little about the benefits of learning languages in general. Most people look for specific reasons, however, mine are simple and lead us to discover the usefulness of knowing different languages. I hope you will see my point and understand why I am learning so many tongues. Since I was a child I have been trying to acquire five languages. Sometimes I lacked experience and perseverance. Eventually, I am learning three different tongues for many reasons. Here I am going to add up some of them which I consider original. 1.        If I hadn’t known English, I would  never  have learned how to play the guitar Once I got interested in playing the guitar, I realized that English is the language that can make my self-study easier. There is an enormous numer of guides, videos and books created in this language, where you can find out how to do palm muting, where „pick-ups” are ...

Educational neuroscience

Obraz
When I first went to school as a future teacher, not as a student, I was a little bit upset with one thought. How would I encourage my students to study my subject? It is said that passion is crucial but I knew it wouldn't be enough. I felt need to study more about psychology, pedagogy and, especially, the theory of teaching. A good teacher knows that his work consists not only in giving lessons but self-improvement as well. I was lucky because I met a wonderful woman who worked as pedagogue and employment counselor. At school everybody has plenty of duties, nonetheless, she was the person who taught me stuff I will never forget. Today, I am going to write about a special handbook every teacher should know. “NEURODYDAKTYKA – Nauczanie i uczenie się przyjazne mózgowi” written by Marzena Żylińska, a   methodology specialist, AMU doctor of didactics of foreign languages is in my opinion an obligatory book for those who want to teach languages, not only at school. Educationa...

Today, reading books is not so common hobby because of increasing importance of digital devices. Unfortunately, there are less people who enjoy spending time with a book. Here, we will focus on benefits you should take into account, if you aren’t convinced of reading. At first, there is an impression that this kind of activity requires big effort and time from you. Obraz
While I was developing my knowledge about literature, I’ve heard about Cortázar many times. Usually I wasn’t convinced to read his books because of its complexity. And I always believed that good stories have to be easy to get though. In a way I know I’m right. Not everybody has to have gift to read between the lines. Nonetheless, this is what Cortázar requires from his readers. Julio Cortázar is an Argentinian writes who lived many years in Brussels, French and Spain. His experience of communing with European intelligence helped him to create own, unique style. A very characteristic feature of his art is numerous references to European history, culture and literature. If you want to get to know about the ambiance of his prose, you should study world’s history, philosophy and arts. It should be a big challenge. After all, I gave it a try and a read Cortázar’s first novel which he called “The winners”. As the name shows in the story somebody has to win something. Nothing more w...
